• Could be written better
Sevil was her biological daughter, and was only five years old. She was practically attached to me,
• whose biological daughter?
The more natural it was, the more nature energy flowed through the island like blood through our vines.
• Veins**
She will always be known as Kahterine to me.
• Katherine ***
My hand reached down to rub up and down my own animal spirit’s head. Mine was the spirit of the Jaguar, I named her Aisu when I was old enough to give her a proper name.
• I thought Jepei was nature energy flowing through the people of Tarun Island. I think it's best to give people a proper idea of what the capabilities of Jepei ans uses. That way people won't be so confused on the power system
The Council and the Masters
• Am I getting this wrong you stated that the Masters were the raises rank on the island but the council are the strongest. You said Ms. O’Brian is the strongest master in combat
never fight for a seat in the 36 members of the grandmasters,
• Shouldn't getting grandmaster be hard? I thought only 6 ranks someone need to receive to get master?
Conclusion: I found the story to be okay. It seemed like the main character was trying to move on from her ex-mom, Katherine, until it was revealed that Katherine was actually alive. The pacing of the story was a bit inconsistent at times, and I think most of the information shared should have been included in the prologue. For example, when Verona explained what happened to her and her mom, and then jumped to talking about the council, it felt like too much information all at once. It would have been better to keep it shorter and simpler. Additionally, there were some contradictions in what Verona said about the Masters and the Council. It would have been helpful to explain the power system while they were in the car, to provide a clearer understanding.
