Whoa so Fae dude is dead...oh gosh. I thought he would have a role in this. Also, when Lorca shrank back when he saw her, I'm assuming it's because he didn't want her to be affected by the chain that is poisonous, right? Of course he would be shocked to see her lit on fire or embers dancing on her skin. This reminds me of that scene in the abandoned city on the mountains - Lorca's palace. Wren entered and she touched fire too, but it didn't harm her. Wow, so whatever her power is, it's showing itself (all because Fae dude released it and I think he meant to use it to his advantage too.) Are you going to elaborate more about the Faes, or if there's others or an elf powerful than the one who's dead now?
One thing that puzzled me is that during the blanket of fog, and when Lorca, Sorcha, and Wren (why only three of them? So now it makes me think it's not a random attack but one with specific target...but by whom?) got abducted and while I can understand that Inakara and Omi's reactions was more like they were trying not to show panic, but the travelling villagers seemed as if they aren't bothered much, when earlier there was a man screaming because of the fog slithering. It just seemed like a slightly odd thing when I expected them to be fully in panic mode, and even though they did cheer up in relief. I wonder what explanation Inakara and Omi provided them so there wouldn't be chaos.
I'll refrain myself from asking other questions hahaha but these are it :o
You'll find out why only those were attacked. Really it comes down to that Inakara reacted to save the caravan but couldn't stop the three from being snatched by the demons. Now the demons snatched those whom have magic. As for the man's role in releasing her magic, there will be more discussed on that.
At this stage everyone has assumptions on what Wren might be, which has guided the decisions they've made. Remember, Inakara has placed a lot of faith in Sorchas apparent vision of Wren. Lorca believes Wren might also be something of use to him, which is why he struck the deal, promising that she would help him with soemthing he asked of later. Sorcha sees Wren as a saviour but she's very sheltered, protected fiercely by her adoptive mother Omi.
This whole time Wren has been focused on her family and she doesn't like to think she has magic because it raises questions about her family. It's not something she wants to think about or have any doubts with her mission. She's always been someone whose always been confident in herself, which kept her safe on the cliffs. She had to be sure of herself and now she's not, which makes her uneasy.
Now that her powers are released as such you'll begin to see how they manifest.
@Chloe Quinn, AHHH. Okay, right now everything that you said made things clearer. Of course, she's doubting everything because what would that make of the family she has ever known? I totally get it. Also, ah I forgot that Lorca's kept her with him because he too thought she could be of use to him. Damn. OK, thanks for the explanation!

Fascinating chapter, as always!
