Description:
So, I also dabble in video game creation as well. The first one I'm sharing is called Acorns. I was fourteen years old when I first started making video games. At the time, I was using the software Game Maker. I needed an easy game project to learn the ropes, so I decided to make a game in the style of this Windows 3.1 game called "Walnuts" which was released back in 1994 by Brian C. Lowe and Eric Lee Steadle. I called it "Acorns" and made it in about three hours. Unlike this version of it, I made all the graphics in MS Paint, and the coding was... not that great. However, it was the first time I had made a game, and the joy I got from being able to make things move and react on a computer spurred me to pursue game development even further.
Fast forward to today, and I decided I wanted to try and remake that very first game I developed, and see how it would be with my many years of experience in the field. This version of Acorns is the result. This time around, I wanted to see if I could make it in the style of an NES game. I used the native screen resolution of the NES as well as the authentic colors and even went as far as making the sounds and music using authentic NES sounds. The goal is to collect all of the acorns the squirrel throws down at you while avoiding rocks that will break your basket. The difficulty gets ramped up as more squirrels appear on the screen and the speed at which the squirrels throw things increases.
The game (as all my games are) is free to download. I don't make games to try and make money. It's just a fun hobby of mine that I enjoy doing every now and again. Feel free to play it if you have a Windows PC, and let me know if you enjoyed it. :)
