It was a few days after the death of my grandmother when I had this dream.
I was in her house, which was typically crowded as she has a lot of family members who live there. But for some reason, it was empty.
I must’ve forgot she was dead because I ignored the fact it was so quiet and went into her room to say hi.
She gave me a hug and asked me if I could go out and buy some groceries. That was strange? I was ten who would ask me to do that?
But I said yes and as I was walking out the door, my older cousin Vivi said she wanted to accompany me.
So, we set off. We hopped on our bikes and rode the closest store we could find. As soon as we stepped through the door something strange happened. As I turned around to see the time switch all the way to the night.
But nobody else seemed to notice. We got the stuff and left. I felt like something had changed though.
We went back to the house to a very loud environment. Everyone waved as if they hadn’t been gone for hours. I brought up the groceries to my grandmothers room. Except, there was none. Just a dead end. A wall.
I asked around and my family members said that I didn’t have a grandmother or that she died years ago. I looked for my cousin to ask her but she told me she had no clue who I was talking about.
No? Impossible. I told her what happened when the house was empty and why we went shopping. But apparently everyone was inside the whole day.
I had a strange feeling like I was dreaming. It occurred to me I was, but I didn’t know how to wake up from it. The smiles of my family members grew crooked as I ran for my sanity.
Where was I? The birds here all chirped in unison every 2 minutes on the dot. It matched up to when my family would start talking and when they’d stop.

I decided to go back to that store, only to see my grandmother buying something. So, I waved. But she smiled and walked off. Somewhere else…away from me.
That’s when I woke up. I wanted to call her and say hi. But then I remembered, the dream was right. She was gone…
This wasn’t the scariest dream I have had but it was certainly eerie enough.
