A small figure sat atop the ledge of a flat roof. Feet clad in leather boots hung off the side of the skyscraper, movements back and forth into a methodical swing. Lights flickered and flashed across the pristine buildings; flickers of street lights lined the ground beneath where they could vaguely be seen from the height, similar with the traffic lights that dotted the roads.
The boy hummed, his teal eyes flickered around prior to him letting out a bored sigh. One hand began to slightly tug on strands of teal and blonde hair, whilst the other fished a phone out from his black coat.
He lightly tapped the button on the side of the phone, the screen flickering to life. He tapped the phone screen a few times with a raised eyebrow. When he reverse searched the unknown number, nothing had been shown.
“Private number?” he murmured.
Then his lips shifted into that of a smirk. “Curious.”

Besides the blatant assumptions and briefness, seeing the messages made the boy's curiosity peak more. And the fact it had been a private number as far as the kid could tell?

[Do you currently, or have you ever worked with the government?] Ezekiel messaged back.
He wasn’t expecting a response quickly, or one at all. When the rabbit keychain on his bracelet vibrated with a glow that brightly shone off it for a moment, he moved his legs off the ledge, bringing himself to his feet. He picked up a black bunny mask strapped to his head, then yanked the cloth of the black hood over his head. Then took off into a sprint, catching air as he leapt off the roof. Ezekiel’s hands caught onto the roof of the neighboring building. Then he began kicking himself between the walls into a swift descent to the street below. Once he landed, he held the keychain up. When it glowed brighter, he went north, suspicions confirmed seemingly when he heard the loud echoes of people yelling. He strode down the alley.
Then attempted to make an inquiry: “Hey there, what’s goi—”

He had shut himself up and moved himself out of the way of the bullet, scoffing. “Okay, rude.”
Upon further inspection, there were two figures: a large man roughly around 6ft tall—which was only a tiny bit intimidating to the twelve-year-old—who wore a dirtied-up polo with a tattered, disgusting vest and jeans in decent shape. Hair was brown and misshapen, with bright gold eyes that wished their gaze could terrify Ezekiel more with how they tried to stare into his soul.
The man was the one with the gun. However, he was holding a woman down—black hair, red eyes, dressed like she had just split up with a potential date.
Ezekiel did not like the conclusions he came to with this. He told them, “Explain. Now. And unhand the woman.”
“Now’re whaddya thin’ ya goin’ do, kid?” the man slurred.
Ezekiel smelled ethanol when noting the slur in his speech. His nose twitched uncomfortably. There also seemed to be a degree of lack of coordination. He could only figure one thing.
‘Alcohol,’ he thought bitterly.
It was unfortunate; however, it did make his job easier. Though Ezekiel still had to be careful with a potential hostage situation. He took a step forward. “Not what I asked.”
He took a yo-yo out of his pocket and began to toss it back and forth. “I asked you to explain, to unhand the young lady you are holding… is this a mugging or you feel perhaps a bit trigger hap—”
BAM, rang out. He cocked his head to the left, dodging it. “Your aim is shit, mister.”
Then he held the yo-yo at an odd angle and swung it forward. It managed to wrap around the hand that held the gun. Ezekiel gave a harsh tug forward, causing the gun to drop.
“This is… painfully easy. So, Open Carry, either Attempted Murder or Aggravated Assault. Maybe Disorderly Conduct? Not a cool list.”
Ezekiel watched pitifully as the man continued to stumble. Though the surprise did make him let go of the girl. He told her,82Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡizvGJQib0Y
“Just… give the cops a ring, ‘K? I'll make sure he is disarmed and leave a note for them. This seems easy enough.”
She did, in fact, call while he wrangled the man. She seemed off-put by his presence—a theme he duly took notice of. Ezekiel tied the man up and then snipped off the strings of his yo-yo.
He didn’t know what would happen next. He yawned, and knowing what that implied made him sprint home—she was safe enough. He just wished he could leave one note for the popo.
He climbed in through his window, locked it behind him, ran into the closet, got changed. He left a few notes for Roe, then laid on the bed.

Then he put it away, opting to sleep.
Meanwhile, across the city, police alarms blared as they followed The Technician, who had just landed, looking at his phone bewildered.
