Meera stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the sleeve of her kurti absentmindedly.

Behind her reflection… stood Arjun.

“You’re coming with me today,” he said.

She turned slightly.

“Where?”

“To the office.”

She frowned immediately.

“Why?”

“Because reporters already know about your accident,” Arjun replied calmly. “If you suddenly disappear from public view, rumors will spread.”

Meera crossed her arms.

“So this is about company image?”

Arjun paused.

“You seem surprised,” Rhea said lightly.

“That can be a blessing sometimes.”

Arjun’s eyes hardened slightly.

“Rhea.”

“Right,” she said innocently. “I’ll prepare the meeting files.”

As she walked away, Meera noticed the way Rhea looked at Arjun.

Not professionally.

Personally.

The Whispered Doubts

Later, while Arjun attended a meeting, Meera sat in his office reading random documents.

Rhea entered carrying coffee.

“Thought you might be bored.”

Meera accepted it politely.

“Thank you.”

Rhea sat across from her casually.

“You know… the office was shocked after your accident.”

Meera looked up.

“Really?”

“Of course,” Rhea replied. “Especially Mr. Mehra.”

Something about the way she said his title sounded deliberate.

Meera hesitated.

“Were we… happy?”

Rhea’s smile faded slightly.

“That’s a difficult question.”

Meera’s chest tightened.

“What do you mean?”

Rhea leaned back carefully.

“Arjun is a good man. Responsible. Intelligent.”

A pause.

“But emotionally… he’s complicated.”

“That sounds familiar,” Meera murmured bitterly.

Rhea observed her quietly before adding:

“You spent a lot of nights alone, Mrs. Mehra.”

The words hit directly.

Meera remembered the diary.

The loneliness.

The silence.

And suddenly…

Doubt returned stronger than before.

Arjun Notices the Change

That evening, the drive home felt colder than usual.

Arjun glanced toward Meera.

“You’ve been quiet.”

“I’m thinking.”

“About?”

She looked at him directly.

“About us.”

Arjun’s jaw tightened slightly.

“What exactly?”

“Was there someone else?”

The car suddenly became suffocatingly silent.

Arjun looked at her sharply.

“What?”

“You heard me.”

“No,” he replied instantly.

But Meera continued.

“Then why does your assistant talk like she knows our marriage better than I do?”

Arjun understood immediately.

“Rhea said something.”

“She didn’t need to,” Meera snapped softly. “Your silence says enough.”

Arjun exhaled slowly.

“There was never another woman.”

“Not physically maybe,” Meera replied quietly. “But emotionally?”

That question left him speechless.

Because deep down…
