I opened my eyes and felt exhausted. I was moving, but that must have been because of Jayko. I looked back and saw Jayko was carrying me. He had brought me back to the Festival town and I stood up.
He said to me, "You're awake! Happy to hear it!"
I said, "What happened, why did I pass out?"
He replied, "The strain of your soul resisting the soul siphon left you unconscious."
I replied, "Really? Are you sure? It was enough to knock me out for 5 miles? And, how did you beat it?"
Jayko smiled and said, "I broke its jaw, then finished it off with a slash, but even that wasn't enough to kill that demon. It had actually pulled out two new moves while you were out. One I didn't see, but it was a jaw based move that could work while the actual jaw was broken. The other one was soul shot. It shot the souls that it had to deal damage."
I replied, "How did you beat it then?"
He exclaimed, "Well, I slammed my fist into him because the soul mimic knocked my battle axe out of my hand. I slammed it so hard, that I crushed the creature and left a crater."
We walked into town, Jayko bloody, and I was dirty and tired. We walked to the adventurer shop, which was in every town and village, and I didn't know why.86Please respect copyright.PENANAVeJMqMkXYK
Jayko told the shopkeep, "How much for a soul mimic rib?"
I gaped at the prospect. I didn't expect him to have grabbed a soul mimic rib. I saw him place down one.
The shopkeep replied, "How did you get this?"
He replied, "I beat a soul mimic."
The merchant replied, "What? Those are rare, and hard to beat, if they sneak up to you, you're as good as dead."
I replied, "It had a famous dragon hunter in it, it must have snuck up to it."
The shopkeep said, "Really, 500g each."
"I'll just sell the one please."
He gave me the money, then walked to help a customer. We walked out and continued traveling, until we reached the town we would be in for the months, no, years in the future, the main town.86Please respect copyright.PENANADw9LhAKJx1
