Amidst the chaos of the World War, everyone was suffering. In a small village in the country of Ceres, on the continent of Aethelgard, lived a little boy who loved to draw. But the war took his parents away from him. He was left with only one thing: a paint brush his mother had gifted him. It wasn't expensive—it was cheap—but it was his last memento of her. After his parents' death, the boy vanished; no one ever saw him again.
The World War finally ended when the strongest country, Vespertine, surrendered. The moment they surrendered, everyone else had to follow suit, especially the Korrdun continent, which was the most powerful region; because the Aethelgard continent relied on Korrdun for all its supplies, they lost the war as well.
Meanwhile, the population of all the countries on the Fauces continent had plummeted. They had sent all their people to the front lines, thinking they would win, but they faced defeat. Then there was the Fractura continent, where a small, powerful nation named Riftzone emerged victorious. They had been treated as inferior and humiliated for a long time, and they took all that pent-up anger out in the war. They decimated the country of Korr on the Korrdun continent in the most brutal way possible—all due to the negligence of their leader.
The survivors were forced into slavery under the new leader, Jhon. Among them was Ivan, a simple, kind-hearted boy who had lost his parents in the war. He now toiled away as a slave for Jhon, clutching onto a single dream: to escape and live a better life. One night, he finally succeeded. He managed to run away and somehow made it all the way to Vespertine.
That, perhaps, was the biggest mistake of his life. The soldiers there, now working under the Riftzone regime, didn't even listen to him; they threw him near an ice wall, far across the Ocean Azurea. Ivan had only heard about this wall in legends, and now, for the first time, he was staring right at it. It took him four days to travel from Vespertine to the ice wall.
