I rushed back to my apartment, packed my bag in a haze of worry and discomfort and as I checked out I had the desk clerk find me the cheapest and earliest plain home. This had been no accident. I arrived at the airport in the uber the desk clerk had ordered and as I boarded the plane that familiar wet dog smell filled the air, I showed no sign that I had smelled it and took my seat. The plane took off and I gained sleep for the entire journey, so as to not arouse any suspicion or allow myself to look over my shoulder every five minutes. When we landed back in London I grabbed my bag the second I saw it and power walked back to my car. I drove almost breaking the speed limit all the way home. The apartment I shared with my friend Nancy was small but liveable. The kitchen was in the living room and the bedrooms behind a wall the bathroom was far left and was ocean themed.
I opened the door and it looked just the same as always just with a little more take away containers on the kitchen island.
I chucked my bag on my bed which I had made before leaving and then flopped onto the sofa letting the adrenaline subside. The remote was not on the coffee table in front of the tv, looking around it was not on any other surfaces where Nancy might have left it so i plunged my hand between the sofa cushions not finding the remote but something else it was an L shape and as I traced my hand over the surface I found the trigger and the familiar feel of a magazine release it was a semi-automatic pistol, “Hay Anna?” 8Please respect copyright.PENANA3CWpJzIYvZ
