Hello hello, it's been awhile hasn't it?
I apologize for the lack of updates as of late but things have been busy. New job, prepping to move (likely), new projects, and a mix of just about everything else. Speaking of projects, that's sort of the point of this post so how about I get at it.
Well I think it about obvious, to start off with, that SoF and WoF have hit a dead end until this point. I've of course juggled them back and forth trying to find ways to keep them alive... and today I've come to that conclusion.
Sins of Fate unfortunately is the most hopeless case. Granted I could try and make it work, I've opted to remove it for now to keep some things as a surprise, while also looking to boost Ravenlight itself with its many changes. There are a lot of reasons behind this, from it being admittedly the weakest of the Trio plot-wise, to me being able to do everything it promised in Ravenlight. I don't want to show anything big right off the back without time to grow, and unfortunately the concept to grow just isn't there when compared to Ravenlight.
Genuinely, I was going to focus on team building a bit for awhile and take on some pretty big arc enemies, somewhat Naruto Style. Maybe after I'd get into some bigger stuff, like a Demon Overlord declaring war or whatever. Thing is, with Ravenlight's evolution, I can get away with that there already. One Piece had a big influence on me (and honestly I need to get back to it, I'm on episode 228 or something like that). The concept of just 'exploring' with the main project, it just spoke to me. Why explore the CFU's various worlds with a spin off when I can do the main project & show off more of the characters, maybe even give stuff that heavier twist with the likes of the Hive and other big time characters.
I knew from the beginning of writing Book 1 I wanted to deviate from how I handled Ravenlight's predecessor. The predecessor lore, or perhaps "Alpha Version" followed what I learned in school, focus on the plot and cut anything that doesn't drive it. With Novel 1, I ignored that since it had been roughly 8-10 years since I wrote the predecessor. I wanted to explore more than just rushing through the plot, I wanted to open the door, to let the characters relax and grow... so I did. Then when Novel 1 was done, I watched One Piece and it majorly inspired me to expand that concept more (anime has influenced me so much!!).320Please respect copyright.PENANAg6daMUvx4y

The concept of Sagas, arcs, it all just flowed well with the possibilities for Ravenlight (which again was the main piece of the trio). I could take my time and greatly expand the potential of say... the Tribe, the Hive, Arkaza, and other things I wanted to bring in, while also allowing time for it to breathe. And that was basically the nail in SoF's coffin right then and there, because SoF was supposed to be that and I am not a fan of just writing 2 pieces that are remotely similar.
Ravenlight & SoF = Explore the Universe and check out different conflicts.
One needed a formula change and I chose SoF to be the loser. Besides, in the Alpha, I didn't explore Elysium and all that (which I am STILL modifying btw) period during the Hive stuff if anyone read all 7 books. Even in the D&D I was testing ideas in, it took close to a decade to hit that point.
So with everything being able to just fit on like a glove for Ravenlight, SoF got the ax. Will it come back? Idk, maybe. Maybe when Ravenlight starts to explore that stuff I'll make a return to SoF. For now though, what is present will be Penana exclusive as I take it off of other platforms.

Now how about Wings of Freedom? Obviously the formula is a fair bit different there. It's a dystopian story. Honestly this has been the hardest one to decide on, mostly because there isn't much there- yet there's room for stuff to be added if I opt to. Honestly, yeah, this one is going to stay. It just might take some time to fluff it up more.
WoF is not dead because I believe I can still get some unique variety out of it without copying my plans for Ravenlight or any future plans. There are some other reasons for my decision to keep it which will come down the line later on; but for now it's primarily the fact that I believe I can make this one something. Again I can't with SoF atm unless I drop the starter formula, which would involve some major reworking, and right now I'd rather just sit on that one until the lore comes about on its own via the rest of the CFU.
When will WoF return? Well, hopefully soon, really soon. I'm hoping by fall at the latest but it might not honestly take that long anyway, since I have other things coming out soon as well.

So what else is there? Well, I already announced one of them on Twitter, that being New Horizons. New Horizons is going to be the continuation of my D&D lore, which is about 13 years in the making if not more. See, my D&D group has hiatused recently due to circumstances. Now it can resume but honestly I just got to thinking, why not share it a little eh? Maybe redo a couple things I wish I had done different during the actual D&D events?
Why not show a bit of the story where Ravenlight's predecessor originated from? Because yes, the predecessor started as D&D concepts before I actually started writing it. So where will it start? I'm going to back track a little bit to a good starting point, probably drop a big exposition chapter or something here or elsewhere to give everyone a run down of the essentials before hand.
What do you need to know about it?
Well for right now, how about I give you an idea. It started in 2008. That's a lot of years of content right there (2008-2021). Obviously you won't get it all but I will try to structure it from beginning to the end I guess, where some of the backstory is explained over time. Major characters still alive, previous conflicts, previous events. In a way it'll be like watching Boruto first and then learning about Naruto & Naruto Shippuden as time goes on.
The project will be a Penana Exclusive as it deals with a lot of non-original elements, that I turn to make them a bit more original. In the D&D, we've dabbled with a lot of pre-established lores and characters. We've had Bleach, we've had Harry Potter, we've had stuff like Ben 10 and Power Rangers. And then there is the lore of others (which I will try and shy away from a bit), which just adds even more. Mix in my own and it'll be a cocktail of different stuff, a good bit of fanfiction on top of original concepts.
So, maybe it'll start with one of the big baddies from the majority of the D&D's history (Zero Blackheart) working with Sosuke Aizen from Bleach around the time that the Arrancar Saga begins... and maybe some significant events change. Maybe Ichigo drops dead actually or his Vasto Lorde form is defeated by Ulquiorra, who then goes on to help the other 3 top espada alongside Wonderweisse. The possibilities will be endless, and there will be plenty of my own guys to keep it going.
At one point we even had a 'Terminator' War where some guy made a bunch of Terminators to destroy everyone on every side (yeah, Terminators). How it'll exactly start I can't say but it will feature my newish main character, his crew, and plenty of enemies to keep things interesting. And who knows, maybe I'll invite the others to co-write this.
So, a mighty big one here. I'm hoping to get this one going before the end of August.

And then I know I've talked about this project before, Red River. For those who remember, I had a series called Red River. Ya know, the one where God and Satan take action, Satan giving miserable or greedy people the power to change the world, then God giving others the power to stop 'em. Problem is, I never got that going as I tried to base characters off of real people.
BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING!!
I haven't had the time to really work on this one but I am hoping that by Winter or early 2022 I have something to offer.

So lastly, how about Ravenlight?
Ravenlight is still going strong. Right now I'm still working on the "Prologue Saga" as I've been dubbing it. This Saga jumps in after a 6 month (I think?) time skip, showing how things have progressed. Obviously Elise has gotten stronger, obviously she's bonded with people, obviously things are happening. It's all where I want it right now even though we have a bit of a big mission & bigger fight happening right away.
I know action isn't everyone's cup of tea, and it won't be the only thing going on. We're near the end of the Return to Vulfax Valley Arc, which sees the Tribe investigating a growing problem of Undead being used as soldiers by the Hive. There will be at least one more shorter arc before the end of the Saga. After that I have yet to decide if I'd like to jump straight into the Frostosis Civil War Saga or if I want to touch on something else. Either way, I have a few weeks to think on it.
I'm hoping to keep the release schedule going, with Tuesdays and Fridays being when I upload. Btw, you can join my Discord to read chapters earlier, as in right when they get done.
I have a lot planned for Ravenlight, not just a bunch of fighting. It just so happens that things went this way to show off a bit of what to expect with the conflict. There will be blood, that much is pretty much certain at this stage eh?

So that's about it for the updates on my projects. Now how about what else is happening?320Please respect copyright.PENANATFYCeg5Q9y
Well atm there may be SOME delays, potentially. I have a new job since I last posted one of these I think (end of April), and I am looking to maybe move across the country which will involve: a new job, a new life, new people. I don't have all the answers for that right now, it might impact things it might not. May move yet, may not, idk as time goes on. I wanted to last year but with Covid and the fires and other stuff, I never 100% went through with it.320Please respect copyright.PENANA0oGGHJfBVN
In addition to all of this, I am hoping to get back into streaming at some point. I also wouldn't mind hiring an illustrator or a musician to do some OST work here & there, unless I opt to do both of those things when I have free time.320Please respect copyright.PENANAfKhGqg4pdp
Still stuff I'm debating on.320Please respect copyright.PENANAzNElzHAn30
Well with that there really isn't much else to say. I've been enjoying the new job, I've been enjoying the new freedom of my various projects, and I've been enjoying the continually expanding audience.320Please respect copyright.PENANAx0l4SilvnU
Looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming months. Till then, stay lit my Book Ravens!!320Please respect copyright.PENANAN5SrYNkvRU
