You could write that! I'm not sure if it's a "trope" persay, but this is only supposed to be something you struggle with, and if you struggle with happy endings go right ahead! ^^
Can you elaborate by "trope"? A trope could be a cliché, which is, well, an odd thing to specifically struggle with and write about. A trope can also be a metaphorical/figurative expression, which I assume you are not referring to in the prompt, as I'm not sure how I would go about crafting a story for an expression with 400+ words.
Also, (3) AI checkers are faulty, and many writing styles can be easily flagged as AI. (4-5) Why is there a word limit? Setting word limits may sometimes mentally obstruct creative freedom for writers.
People do struggle with tropes, because when you think of tropes you typically think of something like enemies to lovers, villain to hero, etc, which many people /do/ struggle with which is why I put it there, so that it also didn't just have to be genres that you struggle with.
As for the AI checkers, it's only if I specifically note something that seems like it's written by AI. AI writing is by no means perfect and has very distinct flaws that typically humans don't make. It's like AI Art, it's distinct and noticeable. People will make grammatical errors, it's a human flaw, even if it's not noticeable at first or even third glance. AI writing uses words that humans don't usually use, or even if they do, not in such a constant flow that AI does. The AI checker I use bases it off a percentage that it thinks it's AI writing. So using that, and what I think based off reading it, will be the deciding factor.
I've never actually met somebody who writes like an AI and I've met a lot of writers on a variety of platforms.
@Poltergeist, I see. Including tropes would extend the topics available beyond genres. If you intend to make contests similar to this in the future, I think it'd be more enticing for potential contestants if you provide a nudge towards a specific direction, though, as it's difficult to compare entries featuring romance with entries featuring action or horror. Further, past entries might also heavily influence the direction of new entries.
As for AI, I agree. AI writing has a lot of distinct features that can raise flags and suspicion. I just don't recommend using AI detectors as the sole delineator between human and generated writing, as it's not always accurate. These detectors only check a writing's diction and the consistency in stylistic choices, iirc.
