Peter was the first to awaken out of everyone. He thought about going back to sleep but he didn't see a point. So he got up and walked over to the cliff where he and Y/n sat the night before. Peter kept thinking about last night, he couldn't get it out of his head. He wondered what would've happened if they did kiss last night. Would things be different? He also kept thinking about what Y/n said last night, her words never left his mind all night. I need you.
"Lost in thought, your majesty?" Peter turned to see Mr Beaver walking over to the cliff. He plonked himself next to him.
"Sorry, I just-"
"No need to explain - it's about the Princess isn't it?" Beaver said while looking at the Princess and Peter seemed shocked. Was it that obvious?
"I heard your conversation last night, she's a good one that Princess. She's been through a lot to get where she is now, but the Princess is strong - don't lose that" Beaver smirked and started to swing his paws just like Y/n did last night.
"What kind of things did she go through?" Peter asked. Lowering his voice making sure not to wake anyone else.
"That's not for me to tell - she'll tell you when she's ready" Beaver and Peter immediately stopped talking when they heard the sound of snow crunch. They looked back and saw Y/n turn over, still asleep but she had herself huddled up in a ball to keep warm and she had Peter's fur coat wrapped around her and she tugged onto it tighter, this made Peter smile. Beaver lowered his voice even more.
"You just gotta give her time - she'll open up - but don't judge her for her past, everyone's done some things we're not proud to admit" Beaver stood up and patted Peter on the back before going back into the cave and started the fire again.
"What were you two talking about?" Y/n was awake, she still had Peter's coat wrapped around her and looked half asleep. She sat next to Peter and rubbed her eyes.
"Not much" Y/n raised her eyebrows at him as if to say 'yeah right, what were you really talking about'
"Did you sleep okay?" Peter asked trying to change the subject, luckily it worked.
"Okay, I've slept better. Your coat definatley helped though" Y/n smirked while pulling his coat over herself more.
"It suits you" Peter smiled. Mr Beaver came over and handed them both a hot cup of water. They both thanked him and drank their drinks. By this time everyone was awake. The beavers were by the bonfire talking to each other, Susan was admiring the trees and the leaves were swirling around her making her laugh and Lucy walked over to Peter and laid down on his lap.
"Still tired Lu?" Peter laughed as Lucy nodded her head slightly in aggreeance. Peter started to stroke her hair which made Lucy's eyes drop even more.
"Don't let her fall back asleep, Pete. We need to find Edmund" Susan shouted still playing with the leaves from the trees.
"Here sit up, dear" Y/n said while picking up Lucy and placing her on her lap. Y/n handed her the hot drink of water and Lucy slowly drank it.
"There. Feeling better?" Y/n questioned while handing the cup to Mrs Beaver.
"Much, thank you miss. You really are a Princess" This made Y/n smile and she tickled her neck which made Lucy laugh.
"Go play with your sister" Y/n instructed and Lucy did just so. She got up and ran over to Susan. Y/n flicked her hand towards the two sisters which made the leaves more fierce, this made the girls laugh. Y/n turned back to face the river but noticed Peter looking at her.
"What?" She asked trying to contain her smile.
"Nothing" Peter laughed
"No tell me, do I have something on my face?" Y/n started rubbing her face anxious she'd embarrassed herself the whole time. Peter grabbed her hand and lowered it from her face.
"Nothing but beauty" Y/n blushed and rolled her eyes.
"Tease" She said, they both laughed. Not noticing that they were still holding each others hand.
"Come on, Princess. We should get going" Mr Beaver called over. Peter got up and handed Y/n his hand, she took it and they both walked together, hand in hand. With the two sisters behind them and the two beavers infront.
1 hour later:
"Now Aslans camp is just over there by the stone table just across the frozen river" Mrs Beaver pointed towards the camp past the river and over many, many trees, you could see two large stone structures.
"River?" Susan questioned she began to feel more anxious about the whole situation.
"It's been frozen for 100 years, dear" Mrs Beaver tried to reassure Susan but all she got was a weak smile.
"It seems so far" Peter expressed. Y/n squeezed his hand that she will still holding even an hour later.
"We'll get there. Edmund will be okay" He smiled and squeezed my hand in return.
"This is Narnia I'm afraid, did you expect it to be smaller?" Mrs Beaver asked.
"Just a little..."
30 minutes later:
We were walking across the frozen river. Y/n kept holding on to her necklace, clutching it close to her heart. Peter noticed but didn't say anything, he remembered what Beaver said about her being ready. He trusted she would tell him everything.
"Come on, before we're old" Mr Beaver complained for about the 30th time, everyone started to get a bit cranky and tired. The Beaver's were picking up their pace, so was Susan and Lucy started to slow down, her legs were tired. Peter bent down infront of Lucy to give her a piggy back ride and she got on his back.
"If he tells us to hurry up one more time, I'm going to turn him into a big fluffy hat" Peter remarked, we all laughed.
"Come on Son of Adam! We don't have much time!" Y/n and Susan burst out laughing, we both looked at Peter, who looked like he was about to burst.
"They are getting kind of bossy" Lucy laughed.
"I heard that" Mr Beaver turned around to give us a disappointing look but we all just laughed. As we walked further across the river we could hear something from afar as it got closer we heard the sound of bells. Y/n snapped to look at the Beavers.
"It's her! Run!" Mrs Beaver shouted. Without a second of thought everyone started sprinting for their lives. The sound of the bells were getting closer so Y/n flicked her hand and an ice boat appeared and sped off over the river.
"You couldn't of done this before Princess!" Mr Beaver shouted. Y/n shrugged her shoulders.
"Don't be silly, dear. You need your exercise" Mrs Beaver replied while tapping his belly and Mr Beaver slapped her hand away and pulled a face towards her. The boat got to the end of the river and we all jumped off.
"Quick down here!" Mr Beaver instructed and led us down to a little cave. Beneath a pile of snow. We all jumped down and hid under as far back as we could. Y/n held Lucy close to her while Peter put his arm round both Y/n and Susan closing his eyes trying not to show he was scared. A few minutes pass by and nothing, silence.
"Maybe she's gone" Lucy said sitting up feeling a little more confident.
"I'll go look" Peter bravely said lifting his arms to get up. Y/n grabbed his wrist and pulled him back down.
"Don't you dare" Y/n whispered, giving him the death stare of his life.
"Your no good to Narnia dead" Mr Beaver said getting up slowly. Mrs Beaver grabbed his paw and gave him a sorrowful look.
"Neither are you, dear" She said in a pleading way.
"Thanks, dear" Mr Beaver pushed her paw away and started to climb out of the cave until he was out of sight. Y/n signalled Mrs Beaver to come over and she sat with the children, edging closer to Y/n as she got more worried. There was a long pause with nothing, still pure silence. Then there were some footsteps coming closer. All the children huddled closer to each other and closed there eyes ready to be caught.
"AHHHHH" Lucy screamed, everyone opened their eyes and it was Mr Beaver hanging over the edge looking at everyone with pure joy in his face.
"I hope you've been good, because there's someone here to see ya" Mr Beaver exclaimed, he got up from the edge and out of sight. All the children started to slowly get up. Everyone climbs out of the cave and they saw a man standing infront of them. Long, white beard. Long, white hair. Big, red coat. There's only one person with that description.
Santa Claus.
"Santa!" Y/n shouted and ran to him, she jumped into his arms giving him a massive hug.
"Princess, aren't you a good sight" He complimented, while putting Y/n down and as she stepped away he admired all the children.
"Merry Christmas, Sir" Lucy said, she had the look of pure joy on her face too.
"It is indeed Lucy, thanks to you" Santa smiled and did his signature laugh.
"I thought there was no Christmas in Narnia?" Susan asked smartly, it kind of got on Y/n's nerves a little.
"There hasn't been for 100 years, Susan. But now that the White Witches power is crumbling" Santa replied while walking over to his massive red bag and digging through it.
"Presents!" Lucy shouted, running over to Santa excitedly. Santa turned to her with a red bottle in his hand, he got on one knee and handed it to her.
Lucy, Eve's daughter. These are for you. The juice of the fire flower. If you, or one of your friends are wounded, one drop of this will restore any injury. Hopefully you don't have to use it much" Santa laughed. Lucy took it and thanked him. He then grabbed another thing from his sack, walked over to Susan and handed it to her.
"Susan, trust in this bow, for it does not easily miss" Susan reluctantly took the bow and tube full of arrows.
"Battles are ugly affairs, Sir"
"When you put this horn to your lips, wherever you are. Help will come" Santa winked at the girl and stood up. Susan admired the bow and the horn. Santa walked over to Peter, Y/n stepped away and he handed him a sword.
"Peter, these are not toys to play with. The time to use this may be soon at hand" Peter took the sword and took it out to look at it. Peter smirked, he seemed to love it.
"Don't worry Princess! I could never forget you" Santa walked over to his sleigh and Y/n walked forward. Santa slowly turned around with a sad look on his face. In his hands was a sword, with red and black casing.
"This was your father's sword. I think now is the best time to leave it to you" He handed Y/n the sword and she took it. Y/n ran her fingers along the design and smiled softly. She bowed to him, attached the sword to her dress.
"Bare them well! I best be off, alot packs up when you've been gone 100 years! Long live Aslan!" Santa climbed onto his sleigh and rode off into the forest. Y/n turned around and joined back next to Peter, she grabbed his arm.
"Told you he was real" Lucy remarked, Y/n sniggered and Susan just rolled her eyes.
"Did you hear what he said - winter is almost over. You know what that means - no more ice!" Everyone started running to the river. We got to the edge of the cliff right above the river. The ice was quickly breaking away bit by bit and more of the river was being exposed.
"Wait! Maybe we should think about this!" Susan shouted.
"We don't have time!" Peter snapped.
"I was just trying to be realistic!"
"No you're trying to be smart. As usual!" Peter grabbed Lucy and ran off towards the river as did the Beavers. Y/n rolled her eyes and grabbed Susan's hand to pull her along. Everyone got down to the bottom and as we were about to cross Mr Beaver stopped us.
"Maybe I should go first" he suggested.
"Maybe you should" Peter agreed. Y/n slapped him in the arm. Mr Beaver walked slowly across the river and the ice started to crack.
"You've been sneaking second helpings , haven't you!" Mrs Beaver shouted from afar. It made the children laugh, which is what they needed at the moment. Mr Beaver walked further and the ice started to crack even more. Susan grew more panicked by the second. She started to back away.
"If mum knew what we were doing"
"Well mum isn't here is she?" Peter snapped at her again and Susan rolled her eyes. Before anyone could say anything, wolves jumped behind us.
"RUN!" Y/n shouted and everyone started to run across the river making it crack even more. But the adrenaline in that moment, they didn't have a care in the world. The wolves jumped in front and grabbed Mr Beaver by their teeth, Mrs Beaver shrieked and everyone was stopped in their tracks. Y/n pulled her sword out and shoved it in front of the wolves. Peter did the same.
"You might hurt someone with that your majesty" One wolf mocked, Y/n and Peter still held a firm grip and stayed in position.
"Don't worry about me, slit his throat" The wolf bit down harder onto Beaver and he shrieked in pain. Peter stepped closer.
"Him, no, he doesn't have the guts. But you Princess, this wouldn't be your first time would it?" Peter looked at Y/n and she got more angry and stepped closer to the wolf , the tip of her sword inches away from the wolves stomach.
"Stop! Maybe we should listen to him!" Susan shouted. The wolf smirked at her sentence
"Smart girl" he said. Peter started to lower his sword. Mr Beaver tried to help him.
"Don't listen to him. Kill him!" he instructed and Peter raised it once more. Susan started again.
"Look, just because some man in a red coast handed you a sword doesn't make you a hero! So just drop it!" Peters eyes drifted between Y/n and Susan. Y/n's hand was still firmly held onto her sword not moving an inch. Yet Susan was backing slowly looking more frightened by the minute.
"NO! Peter, Narnia needs ya" Mr Beaver shouted. The river started to break and the wolves grew more angry they stepped towards the children and Y/n stabbed one of them. Susan shrieked. Mr Beaver got free and joined the others.
"HOLD ONTO ME!" Peter shouted, he raised his sword and stabbed in into the ice that they were standing on. Susan and Lucy held onto the sword with Peter in the middle. Peter held out his hand to the others.
"We'll be okay!" Mrs Beaver shouted and the beavers jumped into the river and started to swim. Y/n turned to face the mountain behind them and pushed her hands towards it causing a gust of wind to break the ice on the mountain.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Susan shouted.
"TRUST ME!" Y/n shouted back and with a few swishes of her hand she created a boat of ice. A wave of water comes crashing towards them and they are all pushed out into sea. They get pushed to shore and everyone climbs up the hill. Susan, Peter, the Beavers, Y/n, Lu-
"Where's Lucy?" Y/n asked looking around frantically, everyone starts shouting her name.
"Has anyone seen my coat?" Lucy shouted, climbing onto the hill. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Peter ran over to her and placed her coat over Lucy's shoulders. All the children hug and Y/n is drying the beavers off with the wind.
"Come on we must get going. We're getting close!" Mrs Beaver instructed and Susan and Lucy rushed ahead right behind the beavers. Peter ran up to Y/n.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Other than freezing cold, yeah I'm amazing. You?" Y/n rubbed her arms trying to warm herself up. Peter wrapped his arms around her and did the same.
"Much better now" Peter looked directly into Y/n eyes and she smiled.
"Your hair looks good wet" She rubbed his head and ran off towards the others.
"Tease" Peter whispered.
