Y/n sat at the edge of the snowy, rigid cliff, a river right below her in which the waves were swaying back and forth. Her hair was blowing gently in the wind and the moon was brightly lit illuminating all the stars. She sat there while everyone was asleep and thought about what Peter said 'we just want our brother back' and the look that he gave her before going to sleep. So apologetic yet she knew he meant what he said. All Y/n ever wanted was to protect Narnia and the souls within the land.
She just wanted her land back.
Y/n held her necklace and admired it. The necklace was a red pendant with a yellow lion engraved onto it. She had no idea how or why she had this necklace, but for as long as she could remember she has had this necklace wrapped around her neck. The pendant shone in the moonlight. Y/n smiled and held it close to her heart.
"It's beautiful" a voice said quietly. It was Peter. He sat next to her on the edge of the cliff and looked at Y/n, they both looked at each other. Neither of them knew what to say. Y/n got nervous and looked towards the sea, she dropped her necklace. Peter took a deep breath.
"Look, I really am sorry about earlier but you have to understand that were not heroes. We're just people" He moved closer to Y/n and looked into her eyes.
"My mother had to leave us, all of us-" he looked back at Lucy and Susan, fast asleep. Y/n saw the saddened look in his eyes and felt sorry for him. He's always done everything for his family yet they never seemed to provide anything back.
"There's a war going on, back where we live, not this kind of war with magic and talking animals. But a war with guns and bombs. No one was safe, so she sent us away just so we wouldn't get caught in the middle of it" Peter paused, tears formed in his eyes. Y/n grabbed his hand and he looked at her. Y/n smiled to let him know it was okay, he gripped her hand tighter and wiped his eyes.
"and now, we've somehow got ourselves caught in the middle of another war. I know Narnia is special to you I can tell - and I want to help but -" he paused again.
"You're just people" Y/n finished the sentence for him. Peter's eyes dropped when she said it. Y/n turned her body to face Peter, her hand still tightly gripped to his.
"Look - you may not believe in the prophecy, but I've lived her for 100s of years and I do. I am the protector of the place, my job is to care and protect the people of Narnia but when the White Witch took over, I couldn't do anything. My friends were getting turned to stone, this beautiful land that was once full of life and colour was dimmed and became a place of fear. I no longer recognized Narnia. There was nothing I could do and I lost hope for a long time, until the prophecy. Two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve. 4 heroes. It's not a coincidence that the 4 of you would randomly found this magical land full of talking animals as you say-" Y/n smiled and Peter laughed, the awkwardness was fading and she felt at peace again. Y/n felt like she could tell him everything. But no yet. He's not ready for that part.
"To you - Me, this place may just be a fairy tale, a made up story and I'm pretty sure to everyone here that Finchway or whatever is a fairy tale-" Peter laughed, Y/n became embarrassed.
"Finchley" he corrected. Y/n rolled her eyes and smiled
"Look that's not the point. The point is this is all I've ever known and FinchLEY is all you've ever known. It's difficult to understand I know but the prophecy is real, I'm real, this place is real, and I'm asking you from the bottom of my heart" Peter now turned his body to face Y/n and tears formed in her eyes.
"Don't leave, don't - don't give up on this place. Please. Narnia needs you" Y/n took a deep breath.
"I need you" a tear fell from her eye onto her cheek. There was a moment of silence, Peter didn't know what to say, he didn't know what he could say. Ever since he entered Narnia he admired the princess she always seemed strong and compassionate and this was the first time she showed any honest emotion towards him. He admired her even more.
"Just look at what you've done already" Y/n pointed towards the river, that was half flowing, half covered in ice.
"The ice is melting" she said and gripped Peter's hands even tighter.
"The White Witch is growing weaker, this proves the prophecy is true" Y/n wiped her eyes and took a pile of snow and placed it into his hands and within seconds it melted away. Peter was shocked and they both smiled at each other, until Peter grew sad again and dropped his hands.
"I don't know what to say, Princess" he finally spoke, but couldn't look directly into her eyes.
"I'll help you find your brother, he is a King after all. And if you still decide you want to leave, then I can't stop you" Y/n turned back around and put her legs over the edge swinging them back and forth, her hands either side of her legs. Peter did the same and edged his hand closer to hers, first their pinkys touched then their ring fingers and then their whole hands were interlocked. Y/n smiled and looked at Peter.
"Thank you" Peter said softly while brushing her hair behind her ears.
After that there was no more talking, they said everything they needed to and they didn't want to say anything else they just wanted each other's company, each other's silence. Y/n laid down and watched the stars, Peter did the same. They laid there for a few minutes and just watched the stars. The comfortable silence between them made them happy but sad at the same time. If it came down to it and Peter decided to go home, they would have to say goodbye. Y/n hated goodbyes more than anything and she would dread this one even more. Y/n sat up.
"Right, I think you should get some sleep" She said while fixing her hair. Peter sat up.
"I'm not tired though" This made Y/n smile, she never wanted this moment to end. She edged closer to him and leaned in towards his face, their lips inches away from each other and Peter got ready to kiss her as he was about to close his eyes and lean in himself...
"Get to bed" Y/n whispered and backed away from Peter to the cliff where she was originally sat. Peter laughed and got up to head inside, he offered her his hand.
"I'll be in soon. I just need to think" Y/n pushed his hand away and he nodded and walked inside. Y/n gripped her necklace again, Peter turned around to her before going inside.
"Princess" he said softly, she turned to look at him and he paused for a moment. The light was shining brightly on her face, her eyes brightly lit and he smiled.
"You're a tease" he said pointing at her and she laughed.
"Goodnight Y/n" Peter turned back inside the cave and laid down by the bonfire
"Goodnight Peter" Y/n whispered, she took one last look at her necklace, kissed it and held is close to her heart again. Y/n said goodnight to the trees and bowed before going back into the cave. She laid down next to Peter . The only sound that filled her ears was the wind and the insects. Peter whispered Y/n's name and she turned around to face him. He looked at her, eyes half shut, he brushed his finger against her cheek and leaned towards her face, Y/n closed her eyes and Peter blew the bonfire out and went back to sleep. Y/n laughed and shook her head.
"Tease" she whispered.
What has she gotten herself into. The destined King and a Princess.
