Philomath ran a sensitive, frail hand along the cold, rough walls of the long hallway that led up to her sleeping chambers as she tapped her cane on the floor.
Even though she was blind, she had a very good idea of what had happened at the banquet.
She could taste the awkward tension in the air.
She pressed her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she remembered the taste, something salty and tangy yet also metallic.
She partially enjoyed being blind.
Well, she enjoyed the new sensations it brought her.
Ever since she had first been plagued with startling premonitions, each had slowly diminished her sense of sight until she could see nothing at all.
She did in fact know roughly what some of the castle staff looked like due to her premonitions and the opportunities she was given to touch their features.
The world started to spin around her as a throbbing headache stirred in her cranium.
Bells… deep, joyful bells in the castle chapel.
Wedding bells!
There was a blurry outline of three people standing relatively close together.

Suddenly two large doors on the south side of the chapel burst open.
“I OBJECT!”
Someone shouted, their voice echoing through the room.
A figure from the audience strode swiftly over to the person in the doorway and dragged them down the hallway.

“NOW!”
Philomath’s vision swirled back to reality, her skull still throbbing.
She groaned as she slumped against the wall of the hallway, clutching her head in her hand as the velvet and coarse frills of her outfit scraped against the walls, the fingers of her free hand tightening around her cane.
“Dear Mystic Forest…”
